SUPPLIES

This tutorial is written by Ann.  Any similarities to any other tutorials is purely coincidental.

This tutorial is designed for intermediate level PSP users, or someone who has a working knowledge of PSP.

For this tutorial you will need the stained wood pattern, font,  bow tube and gradient provided HERE. Open the stained wood pattern in your workspace and minimize.  Open the bow and minimize.  Open the font and minimize on your desktop. Extract the gradient to your gradient folder.

Step 1

Set your foreground and background to the stained wood pattern.  Open a new image 600X600 transparent.

Select your preset shape tool and draw a shape of your choice, I drew a star shape. Position it somewhere on the right of your canvas near the top. Effects>3D Effects>Inner Bevel with these settings:

Duplicate this layer, Image>Mirror. Layers>Merge>Merge Visible.

Step2

Layers>New raster Layer. Use your selection tool, set on rectangle. Draw a long thin rectangle from the middle/center of each of your beveled shapes.

Flood fill with your stained wood pattern and apply the same bevel as in step 1. Selections>Select None. Layers>Arrange>Send to bottom. Use your mover tool to position the bar up or down if needed. Layers>Merge>Merge Visible. Move merged layer up if needed. Rename this layer Bar.

Step3

New raster layer.  Use your selection tool and make another long rectangle, this one vertical, as in the screenshot.

Switch your foreground to Gradient in your material palate to these settings:

Flood fill the selection with the gradient. Selections>Select None.

Step 4

Layers>New raster layer.  Use your selection tool and make another rectangle at the bottom of your gradient layer.  Flood fill with your stained wood pattern. Selections>Modify>Contract 6. Hit your delete key. Selections>Invert.  Effects>3D Effects>Inner Bevel: Same settings as before. Selections>Invert. New raster layer. Switch your material palate to color and use a light brown color.  I used #ffc383. Flood fill selection. Layers>Arrange>Move Down. Selections>Float. Effects>3D Effects>Cutout using the following settings:

Selections>Modify>Contract by 8. New Raster layer. Change colors in your material palate to a lighter color.  I used #ffffc0.  Flood fill your selection. Effects>3D Effects>Drop shadow with the following settings:

Repeat with settings of -1 for vertical and horizontal. Selections>Select none.

Step 5

In your layer palate hide your Bar Layer. Layers>Merge>Merge visible. Restore your bow tube. Copy. Paste on your working image as a new layer.  Use your mover tool to position the bow on the top edge of the frame. Layers>Merge>Merge visible. Duplicate your merged layer twice for a total of 3 merged layers. Hide the top layer and highlight the second layer down. Image>Mirror.  Make visible all layers.  Move the top merged frame layer to the center.  Slide the two end frame layers up. Highlight your bar layer. Layers>Arrange>Bring to top. Use your eraser tool to erase the gradient ribbons that are above the bar. Layers>Merge>Merge visible.

Step 6

New raster layer.  Activate your text too.  Use whatever colors you want and play around until you find the size you like. Add your text. Layers>Merge>Merge Visible. Effects>3D Effects>Drop shadow with the following settings:

Add whatever mini images you want inside your mini frames.  Layers>Merge>Merge All. Resize to your liking.

I hope you have enjoyed doing this tutorial!
